Dailyjunk Presents : The Football Manager Guide Part 2
Ok, first of all its taken ages to decide how I should write this blog and what should be included, I have decided to start on Formations first of all and then go from there.
To start with when you first start the game, we all sit there and think ” 4-4-2, how boring”..its so easy to pick 11 players and put a line from the wingers going up!!!. I have experimented so many different formations and have found a few formations that if you have the right players for the right position, they are successful. At the moment I am managing Arsenal and have just finished my 2nd season (winning the Champions league, the Premiership and the F.A cup) the formation I am using is
• 4-1-2-1-2
That is a new formation that I have been trying and as you can tell, its been rather successful so far. If you’re the type of manager that just puts players out and see how it goes, the a 4-4-2 formation is probably the best for you, but I can imagine most managers like to use there players to the best of there ability, what’s the point of having Ronaldo sitting on the wing, only getting involved when the ball gets played to him??!!!, why not push him up from the Midfield line? Or even play him behind the strikers with a free role???
So, the formations that are effective and I find brings the best out of players are as follows…
• 4-1-2-1-2
• 4-2-2-1-1
• 4-3-1-2
Obviously not all managers want to play so attacking and may not even want to use an Attacking midfielder as part of there setup, so the formations I have found to be effective in no particular style are as follows
• 4-4-1-1
• 4-2-2-2
• 4-1-3-1-1
Hope that this has been helpful (if not, tough sh1t), I will be going through how you can get the best out your players by amending the player instructions very soon and I think that the next part I will be writing about will be Transfers as I think that is the most important factor in this game.
Enjoy and keep checking Daily junk….or your life will be nothing without it!!!!
